Dr. Bhausaheb Ubale O.Ont.

Dr. Bhausaheb Ubale (1936-2012) was appointed commissioner of the Ontario Human Rights Commission, with additional responsibility as the province’s first race-relations commissioner, from 1978 to 1985. From 1986 to 1989, he was a Commissioner with the Canadian Human Rights Commission. He was awarded the Order of Ontario in 2001 for his service and achievements in the field of Human Rights. He wrote a report titled Equal Opportunity and Public Policy: A Report on Concerns of the South Asian Canadian Community Regarding Their Place in the Canadian Mosaic in 1977 for the Ontario Ministry of the Attorney General (also see here). He appeared before the Legislative Assembly of Ontario’s Standing Committee on Government Agencies on October 6, 1989 and February 3, 1994. He wrote a book titled “Politics of Exclusion: Multiculturalism Or Ghettoism”.
